3 Self Care Tips to Brighten Your Day

A lot of the time on social media, self-care is usually portrayed as doing activities like using loads of expensive skincare products and doing a ton of online shopping. Although stuff like that can be fun, self-care doesn’t have to break the bank! You can relax just as well by following some of these tips:
Playing with pets
A big perk of having a pet like a cat or dog is that you’ll always have a best friend at home to unwind and have fun with. In fact, “happy hormones” such as oxytocin and dopamine are released in both dogs and people during playing, petting and talking. So make sure to spend some time relaxing with your pet – you’ll both benefit from it!
You might be a little hesitant to start journaling at first because it seems like a lot of work, but it’s actually one of the best ways to take care of yourself! Journaling allows you to set aside a chunk of time during your busy day and dedicate it to getting everything off your chest. In this sense, there’s definitely a strong meditative aspect, especially if you decide to try art journaling. Plus, it’s always interesting to read back on old entries and see how you’ve grown!
Watching a movie
Watching an old favourite film or giving something new a chance can both be very comforting and relaxing. For a few hours you’re able to completely immerse yourself in a storyline and not worry about the outside world. Depending on the movie, you might also walk away having learned some great life lessons too! Don’t be afraid to grab a blanket, your favourite snack and relax!
